My Fav Soccer Players List (In No Order)
In the following list I have put some of the greatest player's from the 80's and 90's era that will sure be missed. I remember most of them played for big teams like Real Madrid and Juventus. The best and most mysterious are in this short list.
I even owned a pair of Mizuno Cup Rivaldo boots. He was playing for AC Milan when I was still in first school going on trips with my local club. I was not a bad player, maybe friends saw me weird I liked skateboard and soccer (anything I could do with my feet). When we were bored we played soccer and even invented football games.
I would catch Rivaldo AC Milan games on odd sky channels and internet streams. I even owned a closet of jerseys, memorably the authentic France World Cup jersey, New Zealand home rugby and also a Norway jersey you could turn inside out. Cannot find any of them or the boots (the studs fell out eventually but they were not bad boots). I later purchased a pair of Nike MAGISTA boots that are great. I am also obsessed with skiing.
I still want to visit many places in Eastern Europe including: Azerbaijan, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia and The Ukraine. One of the best goals I scored was in Kilbogget Park, a volley from the sideline straight into the top left hand corner. Some games we won me and James Hopper, John McDermott and Stevie milestoned one goal after another on top of eachother; repeatedly and sometimes my friends from my neighbourhood would come and watch the games. Other times we were beaten quite unsatisfactorily by fierce teams from Ballymun and out near Tallaght.
I continued skateboarding and playing football right up until I was 15 when studies overtook the simplicity and lifestyle of Irish sport. I went on to meet both Irish soccer and rugby players from the National team and made some great friends along the way. Enjoy!
